Families of American POW/MIAs filed five ethics complaints with the
Senate Ethics Committee after a 1996 incident with Senator John
McCain. After finding out who the 15 people were and what they wanted
to talk about, McCain's "face turned red and he became enraged...he
burst through our group assaulting the niece (in a wheelchair) of Jane
Duke Gaylor, mother of an MIA...After this incident we went to the
Capitol Police and filed a report," said Carol Hrdlicka, wife of an
MIA and one of 15 eyewitnesses to McCain's bullying behavior. She also
said another woman in the group "went flying" as the hotheaded McCain
