O'FALLON, Ill. (UPI) -- An Illinois VFW post is canceling a male dance
show to avoid a fight with city fathers.

VFW Post commander Chip Shaffer said the O'Fallon, Ill., post would
rather use its money in other ways than battling the city to allow the
scantily clad "Men of the USA" to perform, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch
reported.

The VFW had planned the event to raise money for U.S. military
personnel and their families. O'Fallon borders Scott Air Force Base
and a quarter of the city's population is either active or retired
military, the newspaper said.

Shaffer said one night of Chippendales-style dancing would have
brought in more than $3,000 -- 10 times the amount the post makes at a
typical Friday night fish fry, the newspaper said.

O'Fallon City Administrator Walter Denton said the city is not trying
to prevent the VFW from raising funds for the troops.

"This is not an issue of patriotism," Denton told the Post-Dispatch.
"We just don't think it's an appropriate event to be held in the city
of O'Fallon."

Why do they call them "Animal Crackers" when there not even
crackers...they're cookies?

What right does the city have to prevent the show from going on?

Were there ordinances?
