BOSTON (UPI) -- The reputed under boss of the New England mob was
robbed by thieves who broke into his shop in Boston's North End and
made off with the till.
The Endicott St. sandwich shop, Fresh Cheese, is owned by Carmen
Salvatore DiNunzio, who in 1993 pleaded guilty to attempting to take
over an Indian casino and to shaking down a Las Vegas gambler for
$27,000, the Boston Herald reported.
The newspaper said several investigators allege DiNunzio was appointed
under boss of La Cosa Nostra in 2002 or 2003 by Providence mob chief
Louis "Baby Shanks" Manocchio.
The newspaper said the robbery has some people wondering what the
North End is coming to.
"Whoever did it, they didn't know them," said a woman who declined to
be named.
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
