Click on topic.
Click "Options".
Click "View as tree".
Click  "Sort by date".
Pull slide-cursor down to bottom of sort.
Read-respond to last post(s).
If post not entirely visible, middle-click to give new tab with
expanded view, kill tab when finished reading/responding.
It all beats fishing through (and backing back out of) page after page
of posts.

A real newsreader and server would be better.
could you use a newsreader on a cd, like you can with live versions of
windows and linux? if so, build yourself a cd to do that.
Can't use any other than installed warez on the public library systems
here; can install warez on these here college systems (not supposed
to, but you can--I run a C compiler and the R Language that way--and
the HDs get flushed every night) but they apparently BLOCK NNTP ports/
servers.

Believe me, I tried.

America's War Against Usenet came after the DMCA but before CISPA SOPA
PIPA etc., and now few ISPs or even colleges offer it--and I must say
I don't think much of any so-called college CS/IT department that
doesn't run a newsserver.

What's even scarier, if possible, is how the number of web-portals/
gateways to Usenet have dwindled. To, like, about one.

if you can install warez at the college, you have a way onto usenet.
ping me and i'll give you a link a handy vpn app, then you can say
goodbye to any censorship and blocked ports.

i couldn't agree more. i can remember when isp's were judged by how
good the usenet server was. my brother finds that very hard to
believe.
