Post by Evgenii SputnikDoes anyone knows in which Usenet group can future of Usenet be
discussed?!
I know of no group better suited for that than news.misc.
Post by Evgenii SputnikI am a little bit concerned about future usage of Usenet!
Concerned be no more, for the Usenet as it is has no future.
There're at least two prerequisites for the enduring use of a
distributed "socialization technology" (which Usenet is an
example of.) They are:
* allows for efficient (and reasonably secure) exchange of data
in whatever format currently considered popular (such as:
multilingual PDF and ODT documents, SVG graphics, JPEG photos,
videos, etc.);
* provides J. Slightly Above Average User means to set up his or
her node in short time, and to shut it down at will (with
little or no consequences for the other network participants.)
I believe that Freenet (check, e. g., [1]), GNUnet [2], and
Secure Share [3] aim to provide such a framework (eventually.)
Hope they succeed in their goals.
