WASHINGTON (UPI) -- The Labor Department says that 71 percent of
privately employed U.S. workers have access to employer-sponsored
healthcare.

Also, the department said 52 percent participated in medical care
plans in March 2006, and 60 percent of workers had access to
retirement benefits, with 51 percent participating in at least one
type of retirement plan.

The data, from the department's "National Compensation Survey:
Employee Benefits in the United States, March 2006," was released
Thursday.

If a water spins clockwise when it drains in the northern hemisphere,
and water spins counterclockwise when it drains in the southern
hemisphere...which way does it spin at the equator?

"Approximately 46 million Americans, or 15.7 percent of the population, were
without health insurance in 2004 (the latest government data available)."
